About
Dossier sans faute explains, procedure by procedure, which foreign documents to provide and how to make them acceptable: obtaining, legalising and translating them.
What this website is, and what it is not
It is an independent information website. It has no connection with the French State, prefectures, the OFII or consulates. It does not replace these services or a lawyer: for a complex situation, a refusal or an appeal, an immigration law professional remains the right person to talk to.
Our method
- Every rule comes from an official source: service-public.fr, Légifrance, the Ministry of the Interior website, and the websites of the consulates and civil registry services of the countries concerned. The source is cited on the page.
- Every page shows the date it was last updated. That date only changes when the content does.
- When practice varies from one prefecture to another, we say so rather than state a rule that does not exist.
- Translations on this website are made from French with a fixed glossary and then reviewed. The French name of each document is kept, so you can recognise it at the counter.
